SENIOR CONTROLS ENGINEER - CLEVELAND/AKRON, OH
Job Description
The Senior Controls Engineer will work closely with the customer and provide project management throughout the life of the project. In addition to project duties, Senior Controls Engineers may be required to provide training to other employees and are expected to gain a deeper understanding of controls principals. Duties may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
Job Responsibilities:
Typical project lead tasks are:
- Define I/O list.
- Define control hardware list. Working with vendors and staying up to date with new products to create cost effective designs.
- Design control network.
- Work with mechanical project lead to ensure successful design.
- Work with customer to write controls specification.
- Review electrical drawings.
- Define alarm list.
- Creating logic flow diagram.
- Complete PLC Logic or applicable programming.
- Complete HMI software design.
- Inspect and test panels.
- Host customer Factory Acceptance Test.
- Complete on-site startup and commissioning.
- Responsible for getting as-built electrical drawings delivered to customer.
- Responsible for system controls manual.
- Service Calls:
- Supporting customer on existing systems designed by the Controls Engineer.
- Assist with on-site service calls that require higher level programming/ troubleshooting.
- Project Quoting. Meet with customer to quote electrical portion of projects.
- Create electrical BOM for quoting purposes.
- Quoting hours for programming based on customer input.
Senior Controls Engineer Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of VFDs and coordinated drive systems. AB Powerflex, Siemens SINAMICS, ABB, and others.
- Knowledge of multi axis motion control systems, including servo applications.
- Experience in robotics programming is highly desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of PLC programming: Rockwell Automation RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, Studio 5000, Connected Components Workbench. Siemens S7, PCS7.
- Knowledge of network and communication protocols.
- Knowledge of HMI systems. Rockwell Automation Factory Talk View Studio SE/ME. Siemens TIA portal, Wonderware InTouch.
- Willingness to travel.
- Experience in vision systems is a plus.
- Good communication skills, ability to work with others and delegate tasks.
